Imagine a world of music where there are equal opportunities for those who are dedicated and hard-working without regard for economic status. This is the world of Traveling Notes (TN)!
TN is an innovative program under the Hampton Roads Chamber Players not-for-profit organization whose mission is to organize unique learning and performance opportunities for talented young musicians. By integrating high-quality training and performances at a global level the program promotes:
- Musical excellence
- Cultural diversity and diplomatic relations
- Social awareness and volunteerism
It is the combination of these elements that makes TN truly exceptional.
The program is open to talented young individuals from different countries who apply through a rigorous selection process. It offers them the opportunity to study with some of the finest faculty in the world and travel to other countries to perform in concerts of the highest caliber. Its diverse international student population fosters an unparalleled learning environment for students to learn from each other and grow both musically and culturally.
Since the program’s inception in 2007, TN has brought more than 400 gifted young musicians from across the globe together in seven different host countries. A significant number of the students are from underprivileged backgrounds and participate in the program on scholarships. Past venues include the Dominican Republic, Peru, the US, Belgium, Colombia, Armenia, Georgia and Haiti. TN’s multi-tiered approach leaves a lasting impact on participants, audiences, sponsors and partner organizations – one step towards making the world a better place using classical music.
Through the education of young musicians and sharing of music across borders, TN is creating the next generation of outstanding musicians who are socially responsible and culturally aware.
